New Privacy Practice Note: Information sharing Between Agencies

We have recently published a new resource to help agencies understand the practical application of obligations under the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld) (IP Act).

The first topic in this new format is information sharing. Agencies are seeking to share information including personal information between themselves in order to more effectively and efficiently provide and target government resources, support and services to the community. OIC advises that privacy issues need not prevent the sharing of information between agencies however, the privacy impacts need to be carefully considered and factored in to any such arrangement.

Updated Privacy Impact Assessment Guideline

We have recently updated our Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) Guideline to assist agencies with assessing the privacy impacts of a new project and identifying ways in which the obligations set out in the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld) (IP Act) may be addressed.< /p>

G20 Public Holiday—agencies located in Brisbane

Friday November 14th is a public holiday in the Brisbane local government area. OIC reminds agencies located in the affected area that only the notified public holiday does not count when calculating due dates for processing applications under the RTI Act and IP Act.
