We’re supporting Open Data Day on Saturday March 5

February 22, 2022 - 2:50pm

Open Data Day is an annual celebration of open data all over the world. It’s an opportunity to show the benefits of open data and encourage adoption of open data policies in government, business and civil society.

Here at OIC we recognise the value of open data and its role in supporting open, transparent, and accountable government.

Open Data is an important part of proactive disclosure of government-held information and is consistent with Queensland public sector agencies’ obligations under the Right to Information Act 2009.

Making non-sensitive data available for anyone to access, use and share is important to build trust in government. Publishing open data can increase participation, support evidence-based decision making and the development of innovative new services.

We encourage all Qld Government agencies to adopt open data strategies.
