Access application handling training

We are offering access application handling training to help government agencies comply with their legislative requirements. This training is open to individuals who process access applications and write decisions under the Right to Information Act 2009 (Qld) and the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld). Participants will gain an understanding of the legislative framework, communication skills and decision writing. The training is designed specifically for the right to information environment.


Celebrating 10 years of RTI and privacy

On 1 July 2019, Queensland marked 10 years since the introduction of the Right to Information (RTI) and Information Privacy (IP) Acts.

This legislation was designed to provide Queenslanders with easy to access, timely and reliable information, while also ensuring safeguards for your personal information.


Breach of Confidence guideline updated

The Breach of Confidence guideline has been updated in light of the Ramsay Health Care Ltd v Information Commissioner & Anor [2019] QCATA66 (APL094-17) decision and is available here on the OIC website. The Annotated Legislation for schedule 3, section 8 of the Right to Information Act 2009 is currently under review and its content is temporarily unavailable.
