Reports of data breaches have dominated headlines recently, such as the coding error at Optus which resulted in the names, addresses and mobile phone numbers of 122,000 customers who had elected to remain unlisted from the White Pages to be published in the online directory without their consent. There was also the Sony Pictures Entertainment hack, which resulted in the release of personal information about employees and their families, emails between employees and information about executive salaries at the company.

Effective complaint handling processes can go a long way towards resolving a complaint informally and restoring the relationship between the individual and the agency. The converse is also true. Complainants who have a negative experience can lose trust with the agency, become adversarial and continue to pursue the matter by reporting it to an external entity.

We have a wide range of information and resources available on our website and being able to quickly find what you need is important. So to help, we have now included a dedicated search tool within our Guidelines and Information Sheets. The new functionality allows a user to search by key words, guideline type and topic. The ability to browse all guidelines or view an A-Z listing is also available. Our Annotated Legislation search has been styled in the same manner, improving the user’s overall experience.
