Privacy Awareness Week 2026 (4–10 May)

Welcome to Privacy Awareness Week (PAW) 2026, an annual event that brings together public sector agencies and the community to highlight the importance of safeguarding personal information and respecting privacy.

The 2026 theme, Smart tech, smarter choices: Protecting your privacy in the age of AI, focuses on the decisions we all make around technology, privacy and the growing influence of artificial intelligence (AI). It reinforces the importance of taking a proactive approach to protecting personal information—whether it is your own, or information held by a public sector agency.

This year, OIC has joined with other entities to deliver a suite of on-demand presentations on a variety of topics relevant to PAW. The presentations have been designed for specific stakeholders (including the community, local councils and senior leaders) and provide a comprehensive range of resources to improve privacy awareness and understanding.

We invite everyone to join us by viewing the presentations and discussions.

Let’s be curious, broaden awareness and build privacy knowledge.

By working together, we can drive a strong privacy culture across Queensland!

OIC respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and their enduring connection to land, waters, and community. We honour and pay our respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and to Elders past and present.

We recognise our office in Brisbane/Meanjin is located on the lands of the Turrbal and Jagera peoples. We also extend our deepest respect to all First Nations peoples who join us in viewing the presentations below.
