New resource to help Council’s understand their privacy obligations

March 15, 2022 - 9:17am

OIC’s new Privacy in Local Government resource brings together new and existing resources into a handy quick reference guide for Local Government officers.

Information is broken down in two sections:

Part 1 - discusses the concept of privacy and provides a brief overview of privacy requirements for Queensland councils.

Part 2 - supports Queensland councils to understand and apply the privacy principles. It provides practical guidance for local government situations, tips, and links to resources and guidance on the Office of the Information Commissioner (OIC) website.

Council officers can use the resource to help meet their privacy obligations and, ultimately, to make good decisions in relation to the collection and handling of personal information.
