OIC provides information and assistance to support Queensland public sector agencies to comply with the law, reviews agency decisions regarding access and amendment applications, deals with privacy complaints and makes decisions on whether an agency’s privacy obligations can be waived or modified in the public interest. Also, OIC promotes the principles and practices of Right to Information and Information Privacy throughout the community. The right to information legislation is about improving access to public sector information so that the community is better informed.
The Office of the Information Commissioner (OIC) aims to lead the improvement of public sector right to information and privacy administration in Queensland by promoting an understanding of, and compliance with right to information and privacy principles.
