Workshop description

Conducting a privacy impact assessment (PIA) helps to identify and assess the privacy impacts of any initiative or project that involves personal information, and evaluate compliance with the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld).

This half day workshop will provide participants with the opportunity to understand how to incorporate a Privacy by Design approach into a PIA, and the benefits of building in privacy requirements in the initial stages of a project or when reviewing existing projects undergoing significant changes. Participants will explore, through undertaking a scenario-based PIA, how to approach best-practice and scalable privacy impact assessments, underpinned by proven risk mitigation techniques.

Upon completion of this workshop, participants should be able to:

  • Understand the benefits of taking a privacy by design approach
  • Implement a relevant privacy impact assessment framework, and
  • Be equipped to apply practical mitigation strategies to manage privacy risk

This workshop is suitable for project managers, privacy practitioners and anyone who has the responsibility for preparing or reviewing PIA’s within the agency.
