PAW 2026 launch—welcome message
Queensland Information Commissioner, Joanne Kummrow, welcomes everyone to Privacy Awareness Week 2026 and encourages people across the community and public sector agencies to watch the OIC recorded presentations. This year’s PAW theme explores Smart Tech, Smarter Choices, highlighting the opportunities and challenges of living in a world increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence, automation and algorithms.
Keynote presentation
The PAW 2026 keynote presentation is titled Privacy in the Digital and AI Driven World.
OIC is delighted to have privacy expert Clarisse Girot as the keynote presenter this year. Clarisse is a well‑known figure in the global privacy community, who brings a unique blend of European and Asia‑Pacific expertise to today’s debates on data protection, digital governance, and responsible innovation.

Clarisse Girot, biography

Since 2022, Clarisse Girot has been the Head of the Data Policy, Privacy and Online Safety Division at the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). In this role, she leads work on data governance, Data Free Flow with Trust (DFFT), responsible data use in innovation, privacy, and platform regulation, with a strong focus on online safety and child protection.
Before joining the OECD, Clarisse served as Head of European and International Affairs and Counselor to the President at the French Data Protection Authority (CNIL). She previously worked in the Asia‑Pacific region, as a Senior Fellow at the Asian Business Law Institute in Singapore, contributing to regional frameworks, cross‑border data flow initiatives, and cooperation on emerging digital regulations, with one of Southeast Asia’s largest law firms, Rajah & Tann LLP, and establishing the Asia‑Pacific office of the Future of Privacy Forum, expanding the think tank’s international footprint and influence across the region.
