What is Queensland's data breach scheme?

If a Queensland government agency has a data breach involving personal information, they may have notification obligations under the Information Privacy Act 2009 (IP Act).

The RTI Act gives people the right to apply for access to documents held by government agencies (and Ministers). Anyone can apply to access government documents.

Vexatious applicants

Under section 114 of the RTI Act, the Information Commissioner can declare someone a vexatious applicant.

Nonprofits applying for RTI financial hardship

Non-profit organisations can apply to the OIC for financial hardship status under the RTI Act.
