Stage 2 IPOLA roadshow wraps up
Recently OIC’s mammoth face-to-face roadshow came to an end, delivering IPOLA Stage 2 - Build Knowledge training to public sector staff across the state, helping them prepare for future reforms to the Information Privacy Act 2009 and Right to Information Act 2009.
The training expanded on the earlier Stage 1 – Awareness sessions, delving more deeply into three modules: the Mandatory Notification of Data Breach (MNDB) scheme, information privacy and the Queensland Privacy Principles, and right to information. The training explained the new legislation, and provided an opportunity for participants to apply the legislation through scenarios, ask questions and share experiences.
More than 1,000 public sector staff participated in at least one of the modules that were facilitated by key staff from OIC including Right to Information Commissioner Stephanie Winson, Acting Privacy Commissioner Susan Shanley, Assistant Privacy Commissioner Jane Williams and IPOLA Advisor Jim Forbes.
In total, OIC delivered 33 face-to-face sessions across nine locations. Starting in Caloundra last October, staff travelled to Cairns, Townville, Brisbane, Mackay and Rockhampton, then concluded our 2024 sessions in Bundaberg in December. Training resumed in February 2025 with sessions in Beenleigh, Longreach and once again Brisbane.
For those unable to attend, or who would like a refresher, online opportunities are now available. If you haven’t already received an invitation, please email the IPOLA team.
