We are offering two 3 hour workshops for agencies on the Legal Professional Privilege and Breach of Confidence exemptions to help practitioners understand and apply these concepts to RTI and IP access applications. This workshop will be offered twice on Thursday 7 November 2013, once in the morning and once in the afternoon, in the 111 George Street Auditorium.

When the Information Privacy Act commenced the OIC created a large twelve part Privacy Guideline which covered all aspects of privacy principles compliance. In order to improve the usability of the guideline, and limit the need to download more than one part, we have separated it into individual guidelines covering a single subject. Each of these new individual stand-alone guidelines have been placed in the relevant section of Guidelines for Government—Privacy Principles.

We are offering Access Training for Decision Makers to help agencies comply with the RTI and IP Acts. This training will be held over two days on 9 and 10 September 2013 at Cliftons Brisbane. Registrations will close on Friday 23 August and nominees will be notified of the outcome of their nomination by Wednesday 28 August 2013. Note: Agencies include Departments, GOCs, Councils and Universities.

The Acting Information Commissioner has given an approval under s157 of the Information Privacy Act 2009 that waives the Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services’ (DCCSDS) obligation to comply with Information Privacy Principle 11 (IPP 11) for the purpose of transferring specific personal information connected with the Department’s administration of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award to the Department of Education, Training and Employment (DETE).
