New workbook to help agencies prepare for IPOLA implementation

April 1, 2025 - 3:15pm

Queensland public sector agencies are set to benefit from a new resource titled Prepare for IPOLA workbook (XLSX, 284.49 KB), which is designed to document activities, responsibilities and status of work as agencies prepare for the IPOLA Act reforms.

Within the resource, four worksheets reference specific activities required to prepare for the reforms.

The 'Prepare - System wide' worksheet identifies overarching requirements across leadership, planning, training and systems.

The remaining worksheets are structured by topic to cover the main areas of reform:

  • Information Privacy and the Queensland Privacy Principles
  • Mandatory Notification of Data Breach (MNDB) scheme
  • Right to Information.

This resource was developed in response to stakeholder feedback and recognises that each agency is different, with editable sections allowing staff to add key actions or roles specific to their organisation.

The IPOLA reforms are anticipated to start from 1 July 2025, except for the MNDB scheme in local government, which will follow one year later.
