Privacy Awareness Week 2026 (4–10 May)

Queensland will celebrate the annual Privacy Awareness Week (PAW) from 4–10 May 2026 with the theme, Smart tech, smarter choices: Protecting your privacy in the age of AI.

This week-long event highlights the importance of safeguarding personal information and respecting privacy. It brings together public sector agencies and the community to explore privacy from both perspectives.

This year’s theme focuses on the decisions we all make around technology, privacy and the growing influence of artificial intelligence (AI). We encourage everyone to take a proactive approach to protecting personal information—whether it is your own, or information held by a public sector agency. PAW is a great time to refresh and build your privacy knowledge.

OIC will support PAW online this year

This year the Office of the Information Commissioner will adopt a new approach to supporting PAW.

Throughout the week, we will release recorded presentations and highlight available resources that focus on specific topics or stakeholders, including local councils and senior executives.
