Session 1: Applying the Queensland Privacy Principles

Description:

This course provides Privacy Officers with an introduction to understanding and applying the Queensland Privacy Principles (QPPs) as outlined in the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld). Participants will explore the practical application of the QPPs in managing personal information, ensuring compliance, handling privacy complaints and addressing privacy-related challenges. Through interactive discussions and real-world case studies, attendees will gain the knowledge and skills required to uphold privacy standards and foster a culture of privacy awareness within their agencies.

Who should attend?

This course is ideal for Privacy Officers and other Queensland Government employees responsible for managing personal information and ensuring compliance with the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld).

Session 2: Understanding Queensland’s Mandatory Notification of Data Breach scheme

Description:

This course provides an overview of Queensland’s Mandatory Notification of Data Breach (MNDB) scheme under the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld). Participants will gain a clear understanding of their obligations when managing privacy breaches, including how to identify eligible data breaches, assess risks, and notify affected individuals and the Office of the Information Commissioner (OIC). Through practical exercises and case studies, attendees will develop the skills and confidence to respond effectively to data breaches and mitigate potential risks to individuals and their agency.

Who should attend?

This course is ideal for Privacy, risk, governance, compliance, legal and ICT officers as well as other Queensland Government staff responsible for managing privacy breaches and ensuring compliance with the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld).

Session 3: Managing Right to Information applications

Description:

This training course provides RTI practitioners with a practical understanding of critical aspects of the Right to Information Act 2009 (Qld), with a focus on compliance post-IPOLA. Content will include processing timeframes for access and amendment applications, managing external review remittals, verifying evidence of identification, and transferring applications to other agencies. Participants will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to ensure compliance with the Act and apply their learning to making decisions under the Act.

Who should attend?

This course is ideal for RTI decision-makers, internal reviewers and other government employees involved in processing RTI applications within Queensland Government agencies.

Parking

There is a carpark underneath The Events Centre, with the entrance on Nutley Street. There are two large outdoor carparks also accessed via Nutley Street. There is also ample street parking around Minchinton Street and Suller Street. Parking is free, however, ensure you check Council signage on the surrounding streets for time limits or parking restrictions. There are disability carparks available in the underground carpark on Nutley Street with lift access to the building. There are limited disability carparks out the front of the building on Minchinton Street.
