Each of these cases involved an application for access to information (contained in documents relating to the applicant's adoption) comprising identifying particulars concerning the individual identified by the applicant's birth mother as being the applicant's natural father. 

Applying the principles set out in KBN and Department of Families, Youth and Community Care (1998) 4 QAR 422, the Information Commissioner found in each case that the matter in issue was exempt matter under s.44(1) of the FOI Act.
