FMG and Queensland Police Service
(1997 S0069, 24 April 1998)
The applicant sought access to tape recordings, and transcripts of tape recordings, between a police officer (investigating allegations of child neglect) and two of the applicant's children. Applying the principles described in Stewart and Department of Transport (1993) 1 QAR 227, the Information Commissioner found that the documents in issue concerned the personal affairs of the children. The Information Commissioner found that the public interest considerations favouring disclosure to the father did not outweigh the public interest in protecting the privacy interests of the children.
