The applicant sought access to documents concerning the police investigation into the death of her son, apparently by self-inflicted gunshot wound. 

After concessions by some persons interviewed by police investigators, the only matter remaining in issue comprised two statements provided to police by a woman with whom the deceased had had a relationship prior to his death. 

The Information Commissioner found that the matter in issue concerned the personal affairs of persons other than the applicant, and that its disclosure would not advance the public interest in the accountability of the QPS for its investigation.  The Information Commissioner decided that the matter in issue was exempt matter under s.44(1) of the FOI Act.
