(2006 F0145, 16 February 2007)

Sufficiency of search

The applicant sought access to various documents held by Queensland Police Service (QPS) under the Freedom of Information Act 1992 (Qld).  The matter in issue in this review comprised application forms and other documentation relating to a number of job vacancies the applicant had applied for within QPS, and reports he had prepared in the course of his employment with QPS.

Applying the principles stated in Shepherd and Department of Housing, Local Government & Planning (1994) 1 QAR 464, Assistant Commissioner Gittins found that there were no reasonable grounds to believe that such documents were in the possession or under the control of the QPS and that the searches conducted by the QPS were reasonable in the circumstances of the matter.
