PAW presentations to help Queenslanders build privacy knowledge
Queenslanders are encouraged to get involved with this year’s Privacy Awareness Week celebrations from 4 to 10 May 2026 and use the opportunity to brush up on their knowledge of privacy risks and rights.
As part of the celebrations, OIC will deliver a series of online, recorded presentations including one focused on community support.
The community presentation features Queensland Privacy Commissioner, Alexander White, and interim CEO of IDCARE, Charlotte Davidson.
IDCARE is an independent organisation supporting people experiencing scams, identity theft or cyber threats, and Charlotte has over 20 years’ experience across Australian and NSW governments, including 12 years in cyber security and cybercrime intelligence.
Alex and Charlotte talk about the potential harms to people when their personal information is breached - whether by accidental disclosure, when accessed by someone without proper authority, or through cybercrime – including financial, reputational and emotional wellbeing impacts.
Charlotte also highlights how agencies can lessen the risk of serious breaches and, should a breach occur, the importance of communicating with people who are affected.
Keep an eye out for the series of recordings, which will be published on our website during PAW.
In the meantime, check out the PAW webpage where you will find a range of resources and collateral.
