PAW presentations to help local government

April 15, 2026 - 10:09am

As part of Privacy Awareness Week celebrations in 2026, OIC will be releasing a series of recorded, online presentations for the community and public sector agencies. While some presentations will be relevant for all public sector staff, others will be tailored to specific audiences, including local councils and senior executives.

Local council staff will benefit via a suite of targeted presentations that include:

  • A Q&A session about the mandatory notification of data breach scheme (MNDB), which commences in local councils on 1 July 2026, based on questions received from councils and practitioners.
  • OIC collaborating with the Cyber Security Community and Partnerships team (within the Department of Customer Services, Open Data and Small and Family Business) to deliver a joint presentation for councils about privacy issues and cyber security, including privacy tips and the types of support available to local government.
  • Learnings from recent OIC audits that are applicable to local councils.

Keep an eye out for the series of online recordings, which will be published on our website during PAW (4-10 May 2026).

In the meantime, check out the PAW webpage and download a range of resources and collateral (including a poster, screensaver, Teams background and social media shareables) to help raise awareness.
