OIC to join freedom of information panel in Western Australia

October 20, 2023 - 1:33pm

The West Australian Office of the Information Commissioner will host the 2023 FOI in WA Conference on 2 November, featuring a range of guest speakers from a variety of Australian and New Zealand information access jurisdictions, freedom of information (FOI) and record-keeping experts, eminent lawyers and academics.

Queensland’s Acting Information Commissioner, Stephanie Winson, will be attending the event and contributing to one of the panel discussions on the day.

This year the theme for the conference is FOI and Open Government in the Digital Age.

The conference will consider practical issues for FOI practitioners, as well as bigger issues relating to how agencies can be more accountable under an open government approach.

In 2023, Western Australia is also celebrating 30 years since the Freedom of Information Act 1992 (WA) came into effect.
