OIC participates in Asia Pacific Privacy Authorities forum

OIC participated virtually in the 58th Asia Pacific Privacy Authorities (APPA) forum hosted by The Personal Data Protection Commission Singapore (PDPC Singapore) from 29 to 30 November 2022.

Seventeen APPA members across the Asia-Pacific region attended the forum in-person and virtually. A number of observers were also in attendance from around the globe, including other data protection authorities and global forums, together with guests from think tanks, industry, civil society and trade associations.

Over the two days, APPA members, observers and guests shared and discussed a wide array of global privacy issues, regulatory developments and enforcement experiences, and reconnected with one another for enhanced cooperation and collaborations. Key themes discussed included Cross-Border Privacy Rules, Children’s Online Privacy, Privacy-enhancing Technologies and Artificial Intelligence. Queensland’s Privacy Commissioner Paxton Booth also delivered a presentation about OIC’s recent Audit report on Mitigating the risks of privacy breach through staff education.
