OIC joins the global effort to improve online safety
OIC is gearing up to support Safer Internet Day again in 2025, which will be celebrated on 11 February across Australia and the world.
Safer Internet Day (SID) is a global initiative to raise awareness of a safer and better internet for all. Organisations around the globe, including schools and the community come together to educate people of all ages about online safety risks (like online abuse), how to be safe online, and where to go for help.
In Australia, the eSafety Commissioner is encouraging people to support SID 2025 and follow five tips for a safer internet:
- Be kind
- Be mindful
- Speak up
- Start the conversation
- Share online safety resources
These days, we rely on the internet for almost everything in our lives, so online safety is more important than ever.
As the risk of online abuse and new threats increases, the eSafety Commissioner says it's important to educate ourselves and others at work, at home, at school and in the community on how to be safer online.
In support of SID 2025, OIC will be sharing online safety messages and promoting the positive use of digital technology across our LinkedIn channel, as well as encouraging staff to check out the eSafety Commissioner’s range of free webinars, resources and activities.
