Have your say on the federal government’s response to the Privacy Act Review Report

February 21, 2023 - 3:09pm

The federal Attorney-General has publicly released the Privacy Act Review Report with feedback now sought on the government’s response by 31 March 2023.

The report contains 116 proposals for reform of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), aiming to strengthen and modernise Australian privacy law affecting individuals and public and private entities.

OIC has made two submissions during earlier phases of the review process, both of which are available on our website.

Our agency is currently reviewing this most recent report, to evaluate any impacts on those earlier submissions, and the Queensland Department of Justice and Attorney-General’s ongoing review of Queensland’s right to information and information privacy frameworks.

The Australian Government is seeking feedback from the community as well as public and private entities to ensure that any future reforms implemented are balanced and effective.
