Guideline for the State election Caretaker period
The Department of Premier and Cabinet has issued guidelines on the Caretaker period for the 2024 Queensland State election (DPC Guideline).
As set out in the DPC Guideline, the Caretaker period places limitations on the activities and decisions of State agencies and Ministers. These limitations do not impact processing and deciding access or amendment applications under the Right to Information Act 2009 (Qld) (RTI Act) or Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld.
During the Caretaker period, staff involved in RTI or IP Act access or amendment applications must continue processing and making decisions on those applications in compliance with the Acts. This includes searching for and preserving documents within the scope of an application and keeping records of searches and any related correspondence, particularly where documents are not provided.
Refer to the DPC Guideline for more information on the Caretaker requirements or contact the OIC Enquiries Service for more information on the RTI or IP Act: enquiries@oic.qld.gov.au or 07 3234 7373.
