During May OIC has been supporting Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month and encouraging other public sector agencies and individuals to do the same.
This annual campaign raises awareness and understanding of domestic and family violence (DFV) in our communities. It is also a chance to reaffirm a commitment to ending DFV.
Together, Queenslanders have the power to create meaningful change through our workplaces, schools, sporting and hobby groups and in the wider community.
Prevention starts with the choices we make every day—whether it’s fostering healthy relationships, promoting respect and equality, or challenging harmful behaviours and attitudes.
Even small actions can make a big difference in stopping violence before it begins. Everyone has a role to play, and every effort counts.
Preventing DFV in our communities and showing support for victim survivors is an important cause for OIC.
Staff will take part in the Challenge DV: Darkness to Daylight fun run, now rescheduling to June, which has a variety of walks or runs, from 3km to 110km, that start and finish on the grounds of Parliament House.
Funds raised will go towards Challenge DV’s critical activities, including workplace programs, respectful relationships programs, strategic partnerships, and advocacy, all designed to prevent DFV in our communities.
Everyone deserves to be safe and feel safe, and live free from the threat or experience of violence. Together, Queenslanders can prevent DFV.
If you or someone you know is experiencing any form of domestic, family or sexual violence, support is available—online, over the phone or in-person. Find local support services.
