The Office of the Information Commissioner (OIC) has published a new guideline, intended to assist local governments in managing the interaction between the Planning Act 2016 (Qld) (Planning Act) and the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld).

The Planning Act requires local governments to disclose planning and development documents containing personal information, including by publishing them on their websites. The guideline discusses this disclosure, the obligations that apply when collecting personal information which will be disclosed, and the discretions which allow local government to hold information back from disclosure.
