Application of section 47(3)(a) RTI Act

Under sections 47(3)(a) and 48 of the RTI Act an agency can refuse access to exempt information. Exempt information is information Parliament has already decided it would be contrary to the public interest to disclose.

The categories of exempt information are listed in schedule 3 of the RTI Act.
