O’Chee v Rowley [2000] 1 Qd R 207

This case considered parliamentary privilege in the context of a defamation action. McPherson and Moynihan JJ were satisfied that a Senator’s procuring, obtaining and retaining possession of documents for the purpose of answering Senate questions amounted to ‘acts done…for purposes of or incidental to, the transacting of business’ in the Parliament within the meaning of section 16 of the Commonwealth PP Act.

Erglis v Buckley [2005] QCA 404

This case considered parliamentary privilege in the context of a defamation action. McPherson, Jerrard and Dutney JJ were satisfied that the Minister’s undertaking to read and table a letter amounted to ‘acts done…for purposes of or incidental to, the transacting of business’ in the Parliament within the meaning of section 9 of the POQ Act.
