OIC to bid farewell to Privacy Commissioner

Queensland Privacy Commissioner, Paxton Booth, will be finishing up with OIC on 26 July 2024 to take on a new role in the public sector, after two and a half years at the helm of our privacy function and leading the IPOLA reforms in recent times.

Information Commissioner, Joanne Kummrow, this week advised staff Paxton has been appointed as Queensland’s Deputy Integrity Commissioner.

“I congratulate Paxton on this exciting new step in his career and sincerely thank him for the dedicated service and personal commitment he has shown in his role as Privacy Commissioner. The Queensland public have been incredibly well-served through his advocacy and engagement with government agencies and raising their awareness of privacy rights,” she said.

“Paxton has been a valued member of the OIC team and a great colleague. On a personal level, he has been generous in sharing his knowledge with me and been invaluable in assisting me in getting established in my new role.”
