Stage 1 IPOLA training begins

August 27, 2024 - 5:34pm

Stage 1 IPOLA training has kicked off this week with OIC staff travelling to regional locations around the state to help build greater awareness of the IPOLA Act reforms.

The training will shine a light on the future changes to the Information Privacy Act and Right to Information Act, including the new Mandatory Notification Data Breach (MNDB) scheme and Queensland Privacy Principles.

It will also highlight what agencies need to do to get ready for the reforms.

Face-to-face sessions are being held in Townsville, Mt Isa, Rockhampton and Cairns over the next two weeks.

These will be followed by sessions at the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Ipswich and Toowoomba.

If practitioners haven’t already registered for the training, they are encouraged to fill out this form.

The Brisbane sessions are currently full, however a waitlist has been created.

OIC has developed a staged training program over the next 11 months to ensure a smooth transition to the IPOLA reforms commencing on 1 July 2025.

Stage 2 of the training program begins in October and will offer a range of modules to build further knowledge of the reforms and include case studies about how to apply the legislation.
