New IPOLA guidelines available on RTI reforms

July 25, 2024 - 12:22pm

Additional resources have been released to help agencies prepare for the Information Privacy and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2023 (IPOLA) reforms commencing on 1 July 2025.

Over the past two months, OIC has been adding to the guidelines and resources webpage designed to support agencies and clarify amendments, as part of the incoming changes under IPOLA.

Six new guidelines are now available, relating to the right to information reforms:

  • Who does the RTI Act apply to
  • Managing noncompliant applications
  • Publication schemes and proactive disclosure
  • Internal Review
  • Search issues and referral during external review
  • Applications received before 1 July 2025

It is important to note these guidelines deal with the amendments in a general way. They will not be operative until the IPOLA changes commence on 1 July 2025.

OIC will continue to roll out resources and update subscribers on IPOLA news through the weekly newsletter. We encourage you to also keep an eye out for the IPOLA training program due to start in August.
