Collection of employee vaccination information

Over the past month, the Enquiries Service has seen a significant increase in queries from agencies about collecting COVID-19 employee vaccination information. We have updated our COVID-19 vaccination resources to include some common issues, but it is important to remember that whether an employee has been vaccinated against COVID-19 is their personal information.
Privacy case note #6, 2021: Council asks if it can install a webcam at local skate park

OIC was contacted by a local council asking about the privacy considerations of installing a webcam at a local skate park. Council advised that the webcam would not be recording footage; rather it would stream live video footage to the agency’s website where it would be accessible to the community. Council specifically asked whether IPP 2 signage was required.

OIC representatives attended the 56th Asia Pacific Privacy Authorities (APPA) Forum virtually, which was hosted by the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia in Canada from 30 November - 2 December 2021.
