Webinar: Assessing re-identification risk
In collaboration with CSIRO’s Data61, we are offering a one-hour webinar on re-identification risk and the findings from our recent Privacy and Public Data audit.
De-identification is technically complex and involves more than removing direct identifiers. Public data environments require extremely robust de-identification and re-identification risk management processes. Agencies must methodically assess the re-identification risk in the data itself and consider risks in the external data environment.
Data61 are experts in de-identification and re-identification risk analysis. They assisted with our audit and were involved in the Office of the Victorian Information Commissioner’s Disclosure of myki travel information report. They also co-authored the De-identification Decision-Making Framework with Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, which we refer to in our guidance.
What will it cover?
Data61 will discuss re-identification risk and demonstrate their R4 - Re-identification Risk Ready Reckoner tool.
We will also discuss the key themes and messages from our Privacy and Public Data audit. We will explain what the audit examined and what we found, including the recommendations we made to all agencies.
This webinar is focused on the technical aspects or re-identification risk assessments. It is best suited to officers who are involved in de-identifying data and assessing re-identification risk.
When is the webinar?
