Update on the Legislative Review
The Report on the Review of the Right to Information Act 2009 and the Information Privacy Act 2009 (the Report) was tabled by the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice in Parliament on 12 October 2017.
The Queensland Government’s Report responds to submissions received regarding the 2013 discussion papers and the 2016 consultation paper released as part of the statutory review of the Right to Information Act 2009 (RTI Act) and the Information Privacy Act 2009 (IP Act).
The report contains 23 recommendations, including providing a single right of access to documents under the RTI Act and extending privacy obligations to subcontractors. However, it is important to note no changes have been made to the RTI Act or the IP Act at this time. This means that the current legislation and processes continue to operate until changes are made.
