Right to Information Day 2017 – Open and Accountable Government and the media’s role.
September 28 is Right to Information Day (RTI Day) and we are calling on all public sector agencies to confirm their commitment to improving the community’s access to government-held information.
RTI Day reminds us of our right to access government-held information and the responsibilities of the public sector agencies to release the information they hold, so long as it isn’t contrary to the public interest to do so.
Celebrated annually and recognised internationally as Right to Know Day, Queensland marks this occasion by acknowledging the contribution of the Right to Information Act 2009 (Qld) to facilitating greater and easier access to government-held information.
