Protecting your online reputation - Youth Teaching Module

January 7, 2013 - 2:19am

The Office of the Information Commissioner (OIC), has launched a Protecting Your Online Reputation Teaching Module to raise awareness among Queensland senior secondary school students about privacy in the information age.

With online services increasing, individuals are often required to provide their personal information to government agencies and other organisations.  Young persons in particular may be unaware of potential privacy risks when using online services and OIC is responding to a need for educational activities raising privacy awareness among this group.

The teaching module has been distributed to all Queensland high schools and is intended to be delivered to students across a number of subjects, including English, Study of Society and Information Technology Systems.

The teaching module encourages young people to share their experiences, and privacy concerns, not only with class mates, but also with their friends and family.
