Privacy Impact Assessment and Privacy Complaint Management training videos now available
Are you responsible for dealing with privacy related matters? Check out these two videos on Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA) and Privacy Complaint Management (PCM).
The PIA training video explains how to conduct a PIA, including a working example and advice on best practice. It is a common perception that PIAs are administratively arduous, technically challenging and automatically at odds with the initiative’s outcomes. This video presentation has been designed to dispel these perceptions and de-mystify the PIA process.
The PCM video showcases best practice in handling privacy complaints.
Often, a privacy complaint is the result of a communication gap rather than a lack of compliance with the privacy principles. A privacy complaint is an opportunity to bridge that gap. This is recognised in the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld) (IP Act) as there are at least two mandated opportunities for the complainant and the agency to informally resolve a complaint. Agencies should also view privacy complaints as a valuable opportunity to refine or improve their personal information practices and systems. The video provides clear examples of how to best manage and resolve privacy complaints.
