Operation Impala report released
The Crime and Corruption Commission’s report Operation Impala – A report into misuse of confidential information in the Queensland public sector was tabled in parliament on 21 February 2020.
Operation Impala looked at a representative group of Queensland public sector agencies regarding their management of confidential personal information.
It examined improper access to and disclosure of that information.
The report contains 18 recommendations, including requirements about access control mechanisms, privacy training and awareness messaging, amendments to Queensland’s privacy legislation and a new criminal offence. Almost all recommendations apply (or are relevant) to all Queensland public sector agencies. The OIC looks forward to the Queensland Government’s response to the report.
The OIC is currently updating and strengthening resources for public sector agencies and the community.
