New online training courses available

March 21, 2014 - 3:30pm

We have added two new courses to our suite of FREE training – Privacy Complaints Management and Access Training for Decision Makers.

Privacy Complaint Management

This course is suitable for all government employees but more specifically to assist agency officers involved in the identification and management of complaints concerning a breach of obligations contained in the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld) (IP Act). There is no prerequisite for this course.

Participants are taken through what constitutes a privacy complaint, how to identify and deal with a privacy complaint, the key factors in successfully resolving a privacy complaint, and key steps to take when managing a privacy complaint.

Access Training for Decision Makers

The course is divided into three separate modules and is suitable for all government employees that will process and/or make decisions on access and amendment applications under the Right to Information Act 2009 (Qld) and Chapter 3 of the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld). Each module should take on average between 30 and 45 minutes to complete.

Each module is intended to give those who deal with access and amendment applications the skills and knowledge necessary to meet their legislative obligations and make sound decisions.

Completion of the Right to Information Act general awareness training within the last 12 months is a prerequisite to undertaking this course, and the modules must be completed in sequence.

Other OIC online courses include:

  • Right to Information Act – General awareness
  • Information Privacy Act – General awareness
  • Public Health Agencies and the Information Privacy Act
