Information empowers communities
A key recommendation of the 2011 review conducted by the Office of the Information Commissioner contributed to an important advance in the use of data collected by the Queensland Police Service (QPS).
The release of QPS crime data over the years has been empowering communities, raising awareness of issues and driving local initiatives.
A Queensland Neighbourhood Watch group was spurred on by this data to join forces with their local police to combat a spike in property offences.
