The Office of the Information Commissioner regularly delivers a two-day Fast Track Negotiation Skills training course for information rights practitioners. The training recognises that facilitating access to information often involves a series of rapid negotiations with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
Participants learn how to prepare for negotiations in a time effective manner using the Harvard Program on Negotiation seven elements model. The OIC has published an electronic version of the Seven Elements Preparation Sheet used in the training.
The Seven Elements Preparation Sheet is designed as a quick reference guide for information rights practitioners to prepare for negotiations or troubleshoot if an impasse is reached. The preparation sheet can be completed and saved electronically or printed and completed manually. It is intended for use by practitioners who have attended the training.
