On Tuesday, 12 February 2019, we tabled our report in Parliament on how three government agencies educate and train their employees about their privacy obligations.
The public entrusts Queensland government agencies with their personal information in delivering their services to the community. The inadvertent or deliberate disclosure of personal information in carrying out these services can have serious consequences for the individual whose privacy has been breached, the organisation and the employee responsible for the breach.
One strategy agencies can adopt is to train and educate their employees about information privacy and information security obligations and expectations.
Our audit identified good practice and areas of improvement, and made recommendations for all government agencies.
